TranSPORT Roundtable

Wednesday, December 16, 2020
Time: 2:00 – 3:15 p.m.

The TranSPORT roundtable will be focused on the current state of live-sports contribution and distribution technology. This open conversation will address the most pressing transport issues related to satellite, fiber, IP, bonded cellular, and more. Technology leaders from major sports broadcasters and broadcast vendors will help lead this conversation and discuss the latest developments in the world of live-sports backhaul.

AGENDA:

2:00 p.m.: VENDOR SPOTLIGHT #1: TBD

2:05 p.m.: High-Quality Compression vs. Low Latency in the Age of REMI
The balance between quality compression and low latency can be a requirement unique to each individual production. In a world where productions are increasingly home-based, what transport solutions meet these unique needs? As REMI shifts from cost-effective, small productions to higher-profile events (requiring a larger number of cameras and remote sources), where are the high-density compression solutions that scale to meet the growth of REMI?

2:25 p.m.: VENDOR SPOTLIGHT #2: TBD

2:30 p.m.: The Rise of Cloud-Based Transport
Do cloud-based transport models make every carrier and client interoperable and connected with others (if not, why not?)? What’s missing and preventing the vast internet infrastructure from being more heavily relied on? And how can your legacy on-premises infrastructure integrate with next-gen cloud-based transport technologies to create an end-to-end ecosystem?

2:50 p.m.: VENDOR SPOTLIGHT #3: TBD

2:55 p.m.: The Evolving Pipe Is More Than Just Video: Accounting for Data Transport
Many production transport requirements have shifted from exclusively video to a combination of video and data. When data services are the focus and, presumably, extend the reach and management from home to the production systems onsite, what can be done to ensure bandwidth requirements are met when optimal dedicated Ethernet services may not exist?

3:15 p.m.: Roundtable Concludes
The Zoom Room will remain open to allow the opportunity for further Q&A with discussion leaders and direct messaging within the chat.
