Andrew Lorenz works closely with SMT’s partners to improve fan engagement and create sponsor opportunities with augmented reality and stats-driven graphics packages. Based in SMT’s Fremont, CA division, he travels the world to revolutionize sports broadcasts with virtual innovations that include the 1st & Ten line of products for football; virtual offside line technology (SMT-VOL) for the Portuguese Football Federation and FIFA; virtual-signage insertion for MLB and NHL; virtual graphics enhancements (NITRO) for NHRA; and team analytics and broadcast analytics for NASCAR. Lorenz began his career in sports technology in 2003 as a field operator for Sportvision, a company acquired by SMT in 2016 that was known for its virtual innovations. He graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in broadcast journalism.
